Last night I left Bella to sleep in the lounge after starting up the crying performance again. I left my door open so she could come and sleep on my bed if she wanted to, but she slept peacefully through most of the night in the lounge. I think I'm going to keep doing this so she gets used to sleeping in the lounge, as she'll have to do it anyway for a few days when I'm away.

Well, love the latest pics; she looked very joyful there and seems to like her beautiful red fringy coat! But how strange that she only seems comfortable sleeping in the lounge! Hmm. I wonder what she could have against your room. (Hope that exam didn't go too poorly in spite of the reduced sleep.) I suppose doing whatever works for her is the simplest, best idea, but it would still be nice to be able to figure out what's bothering her so much, especially if she's feeling all right and acting normally otherwise.

It's odd because she likes sleeping in my room during the day, but not at night for some reason. I will never understand how her strange Saluki mind works... bless her!

Perhaps we mere humans are not meant to be able to fathom all of their curious mysteries...I do have to say that that one is particularly bizarre and puzzling, though! ={

Bella got her first CC and six points at the show today (none of the other bitches showed up!). It was VERY cold out, and Bella was happy to be all wrapped up warm and snuggly for most of the time. She was a bit fidgety in the ring, but really was pretty good, she usually plays up a lot when the weather's bad. Mum went a long with us- her first dog show, she greatly admired the Afghans, Borzoi and the other Saluki. My mother has excellent taste in dogs. She bought Bel a new toy while we were there as well. ;D image uploadupload picturepicture hosting

Oooh, a pelican--how unique! What a nice gift. (Ulla never likes having to be held by someone else while I shop, but she's almost always happy with whatever I bring back--and any decently-sized show usually has something to be bought, lol.) I like that pelican's combination of fabric types...I recognize them all, but I like them all in one patchwork creature! (All those little fuzzy, shaggy fringe things! They're on my pink Poodle slippers and my car-washing glove, lol.) Anyways, this occasion calls for a Pinkie Pie party! *tosses confetti and doggie biscuits* GREAT job your first time out, Bella!! I know that it's hard to concentrate on showing when the weather's super-cold or super-hot, and you just want to stay wrapped up all cozy and warm. :3 Wow, your mom does have excellent taste. Mine has said that she never would have picked a Saluki herself, but of course, she fell in love with Ulla, and so the breed (along with other sighthound ones) has grown on her by leaps and bounds. I think the only sighthound she might place among her personal favorite breeds would be the Italian Greyhound. She's like me and loves all dogs, even the ones she finds less physically attractive. Aesthetically speaking, she seems to prefer dogs she finds "cutest" as opposed to the ones I find prettiest. Ah, well. My family members and I may all have different ideas about which breeds are the most beautiful and cool-looking, but that IS the beauty of having hundreds of different choices, lol.

I'm back after my two-week holiday, and am so happy to be back with Bella- I missed her so much! She's been very cuddly (even more than normal!) since I've got back. She's also been on a bit of a toy demolition mission, first Busy Bee lost a leg, and now the pelican's legs are getting unravelled. Little pest! We should be entering another show at the end of the month, which will be fun. Fingers crossed it will go well even without the lucky bee! We've also got a big sleepover-playdate planned with one of Bella's best friends, Arya Borzoi, and we'll be making coats for them that weekend. I'm thinking I'd like to give making martingale collars a go at some point as well... I'm feeling very creative!

I can just imagine how happy the reunion must have been! =D D'aww! Yes, Jack is our major-league toy-killing brute here, but maybe Bella was just taking her emotions out on her little friends? Haha, good luck without Busy Bee! If s/he was still salvageable without the leg, hope you can keep the rest of him intact for a while. Oooh, the coat-making party....I'm soooo massively excited to see what you guys come up with. Collars too? Oh, you're so crafty...>3 Ulla's not been having the best week. When I got back from barking on Broadway, my mom told me to look for blood on her, because there was a big puddle of fresh blood on her bed--which fortunately washed out completely. Sure enough, there's an approximately 1/2-inch gash on the bottom of her chest near her elbow, which is an unfortunate location because it stretches when she moves, and she can lick it, keeping it moist and raw. Licking is the natural instinct, of course, and maybe it keeps it somewhat cleaner, too, but she does need to stop to let it air-dry and heal. It doesn't seem to hurt much anymore, and she's a trooper about these things, but this will probably take quite a while to heal. I'd hate to have to put her in a cone of shame, and I've disinfected it a few times...we also try to stop her when she starts licking, and Jack when he jumps on or starts biting her near it. I just can't seem to get any bandage to safely stay on. It's a tough spot to have a cut. It's not bleeding much anymore either, but she did manage to leave two smaller stains on my brand-new flamingo comforter this morning--which are now a lot lighter but not totally gone. Ah, well. Every comforter must have some canine blood, it seems.

Sounds like a really awkward place to have a wound, just in a spot where it will take the longest to heal, and can't be bandaged properly. I was lucky with Bella, when she hurt herself it was a foot which could easily be wrapped up in a wee boot. I managed to get most of the blood off the floors, sheets etc. (the benefits of hard floors!). I hope the stains on your comforter will continue to fade and be gone eventually. Sending healing thoughts to Ulla (and Bella sends her licks).

It is... I haven't found any more leakage except on her own elbow. At times she licks a lot (and then moves on to other parts of her chest and legs as though she has a flava, lol)--but that instinctive reaction may just be helping it at this point. She seems a bit less bothered by it even if you touch the area lightly, and it appears to be closing in on itself from the sides and shrinking, as it's now significantly smaller. There's finally a hard scab over the thing, which we've been waiting on. I do value that hard flooring where we've got it--we often find ourselves wishing we had more! The stains are really no big deal...barely noticeable now. Thanks to you both for the wishes and kisses, I think they're working!
