Just, unbelievably gorgeous. And precious. Aphrodite? Names don't get much better suited to their owners than that! And I adore "Arya." Borzoi are forever among my top breeds. I had a realistic dream of adopting and having one once or twice, and never wanted to wake up, lol. I eagerly await the day I can get one--and find out whether s/he will shed as badly as my current Brittany does. o__o

I'll have to ask my friend about the shedding! Although I guess it does vary a lot between individuals, I've heard of some Brits that don't shed much at all! That must have been a GREAT dream. Borzoi are so beautiful, and I love their temperament. I can't wait to see Arya again soon. hopefully with Bella as well.

Oh my gosh...I want to see a Brittany that doesn't shed a lot! Rusty is one of the heaviest shedders I've ever seen; you can barely spend ten seconds petting the guy without getting coated in his hair. I have the Furminator rake on my side, but it can still be a bit of a nightmare trying to clean a rug, piece of furniture, or car after he's been there. So based on personal experience, I wouldn't recommend the breed to anyone with the slightest aversion to having every square inch of his or her house coated in fur. Ha ha, it must be a very variable thing. =D Every 'Zoi I've met has been as gracious, kind, and dignified as you'd expect them to be just from looking at their marvelousness. :}

Ooh, I like your avatar, what a funny face she's pulling! My old Golden, Tiggy was a shedding-moster also, I spent many years going to school each day with my clothes and bag covered in fluff! That was one of the main things that had to be considered when getting dog number 2, much as Mum loved Tiggy the hair was a bit much! It's nice that Salukis are relatively not too 'sheddy' (I don't think that's even a word...) I was surprised to see how tall some Borzoi are, very impressive! I'd love to meet Arya's dam, Sonya she's goooorrrgeous even by Borzoi standards. I'm really looking forward to seeing Arya again, she was so sweet, and so soft, almost like hugging a baby cloud. <3

I was only trying to get her standing on the box, really--I wasn't close enough to see her face very well, and just happened to snap the shutter while she was at that start of a sneeze. The pictures came out so hilarious (and frightening, like Rita's fearsome face) that I cracked up as soon as I saw it.
No outfit's complete without a little dog hair, eh? Yeah, I can just imagine a Golden. My old Beagles and Casey, the Dane/Mastiff, were the same way. My mom wants a light or non-shedder for her next dog. Ulla's is light and easily manageable--what comes off of her on the Furminator is laughably little compared with the bucketsful that come off Rusty.
Borzoi are true giants! They're just not "massive" like a Casey-type dog. Only really vertical and furry. ;D *siiiigh* Baby cloud...that's what she looks like. Sonya must be obscenely pretty to have mothered her.

Oh my dog (I literally just typed "dog" when I meant to type "god"--but I suppose that's just as well!), will you just look at that smile. Now THAT is beautiful.

I'm finally going to respond to the shedding question! ;D Arya does shed more than Bella, when she stayed overnight we had a couple of white fluffy tumbleweeds in the lounge, but considering the amount of hair pulling she received from Bella, I don't think it was too bad. Shedding is probably somewhere between a Saluki and your average moult-monster gundog (like Tiggy and Rusty!), and they're apparently so easy to groom, very little work, which surprised me as they've such gorgeous long locks.

Better add some more recent pictures of Arya. It's a bit strange looking at the photos at the beginning of this thread, hard to believe that Grizabella's big hairy BFF (Borzoi Friend Forever) was ever so little! Look, even Bella looks seems shocked at how tall Arya is now! Arya and Bella by panGH, on Flickr Arya by panGH, on Flickr

LOL! She's like...*_* "...dang girl, you's got tall! And whatcha got up there??" I would love to be able to have seen what my Casey looked like as a pup. x3 The giants spring up so quickly...of course, for a "giant," Arya is elegant and graceful as anything! ;]
