I'm Donna, from Washington state. I came here from a lion king forum. I do not own any sighthounds, though i had one briefly growing up. I have a 5 year old pit bull/great dane rescue dog named Flash. I am very much into dogs, everything and anything to do with them, I support good breeders and rescues. I believe every dog deserves a good home, that animal cruelty laws should be tougher, and people should educate themselves before getting a dog or saying something against a certain breed without knowing it.

Hi Donna, welcome to the site I certainly agree with a lot of what you believe in, there is a lot going on with BSL at the moment here, education is the key to preventing dog attacks, not discrimination against breeds. Flash sounds lovely, I imagine he's a big boy! It makes me very sad the amount of bull-type breeds in rescue at the moment, if only people did their research properly before getting a dog, and people stopped backyard breeding!

I have a 5 year old pit bull/great dane rescue dog named Flash. Hi, Donna! I just could not agree more with everything you said. (And I adore The Lion King as well.) I've always, ALWAYS been a complete and utter dog fanatic. I can't even begin to imagine my life or what I'd be without them. I love all dogs, no exceptions. The fact that bully breeds are so commonly found in the wrong hands--destroying their reputation--and in shelters, is tragic. Flash sounds amazing. (Great name he has, too.) Last September, I lost my rescued Great Dane/Mastiff mix. She was an indescribably sweet, loving, affectionate (and truly massive) dog. We took her in right off the streets, and she never presented us with a single behavioral problem over the nine years we had her. When she developed pyometra (an infected uterus) and needed surgery, the vet determined that she had clearly been used to breed several litters prior to being adopted. We now know that this means she was a VERY old dog for her size and stature when she passed, but alas, we'll never know precisely how old. "Every dog knows how to love a person, but not every person knows how to love a dog."
