Ahhh, Beethoven...such a charming, touching film. It will always hold a VERY special place with me.
Both 'Homeward Bound' films are even more precious me, if possible--as well as the original Incredible Journey. The scenery, the music, the narration in the original one, the characters and the way they embody the pure, loving, loyal natures of animals...they're insanely powerful. Trying not to cry when Shadow thinks he's going to die in that hole, or at the dramatic moments near the ends of all those movies, is nearly impossible. And I LOVE Riley's gang in the sequel, especially Delilah.
Aha, I LOVE "Look Who's Talking Now!" XD Funny that you mention that one, because it seems to have been sorrily forgotten by most. :[ How many movies have Diane Keaton voicing a Standard Poodle?!? I rest my case.
Plus Danny DeVito as Rocks...! It's awesome.
Oliver & Company--naturally!!
Disney has certainly had a knack for using a wide variety of awesome dog breeds in their cartoons and feature films...one of the many, many reasons I adore them.
Fluke is one of my absolute favorite movies--talk about a tear-jerker. It's pure magic. I only wish that they hadn't used a chimp in the laboratory scene...that was a real shame. Sadly, they've been used as "actors" in other movies that I otherwise absolutely love, such as Babe: Pig in the City. =[
Favorite animated dog movies (and some fave characters):
Oliver & Company (RITA, Georgette, Dodger, etc.)
Lady & the Tramp (Peg, Boris, Tramp, and almost everyone--I like the sequel, too. Ruby is my favorite from it.)
The Fox and the Hound (Chief and everyone else...and of course, the sequel, which I love mostly because of Dixie!)
101 Dalmatians (Love that sequel, actually. Lil' Lightning was awesome. The two live-actions are also good...the second even includes a Borzoi named Digger.)
...guess I'm only counting realistic dogs, so the Goofy Movies don't go here...
All Dogs Go to Heaven (LOVE the entire franchise...obviously, Sasha's my fave. Plenty of other awesome characters include Annabelle & Belladonna, and of course, Charlie & Itchy...)
Balto! (Sequels are aiight...)
Millionaire Dogs (Bella, Velvet, Chuffie, and the rest)
Roadside Romeo (Leila!! And the rest :3)
Alpha and Omega (Lily, Kate, Humphrey, Garth, Tony, Winston, Eve, Cando...I loved all of the characters.)
Scruffy
Rover Dangerfield (Raffles, Rover, Daisy, etc.)
The Plague Dogs
Nine Dog Christmas (Frenchy, Q.T., MacGregor, Fetch, etc.)
Bolt
All or most Scooby-Doo, Pound Puppies, & Lassie films
Live-Action (again, just full-length feature films):
The Adventures of Milo and Otis (I've heard a lot about animal abuse supposedly having been involved in its creation, which is a terrible shame if that's true, because it would have been entirely unnecessary, and simply a result of lower standards in its place of origin and less respect for life on the part of its creators...)
To Dance With the White Dog
Napoleon
Cats and Dogs (and Revenge of Kitty Galore)
Bingo
Best in Show
Shiloh (First is best, of course.)
Operation Dalmatian: The Big Adventure
The Ugly Dachshund
Space Dogs
Jock the Hero Dog
Smitty
The Adventures of Bailey: the Lost Puppy
White Dog
Frank
Cool Dog
C.H.O.M.P.S.
The Hound That Thought He Was a Raccoon
Many more really good ones ('cause my list, as usual, is super-long!): Zeus and Roxanne, Good Boy!, Old Yeller, Greyfriar's Bobby (Disney version is best, imo), Big Red, Savage Sam, Where the Red Fern Grows, The Trial of Old Drum, Far From Home: The Adventures of Yellow Dog, The Shaggy Dog (and D.A...Tim Allen remake is all right), My Dog Skip, Marley & Me, Firehouse Dog, Call of the Wild, White Fang, Hachi: A Dog's Tale, A Dog of Flanders, Eight Below, Snow Dogs, Iron Will, Air Bud (can take or leave most of the sequels and "Buddies" spin-offs, though...They're all right, for the most part...), the Benji movies, Hotel For Dogs, K-9 (+2 sequels), The 12 Dogs of Christmas, Because of Winn-Dixie, The Duke, The Retrievers, Turner and Hooch, Miracle Dogs (& sequel), Kavik the Wolf Dog, Beverly Hills Chihuahua (sequels were actually bearable!), Top Dog, Underdog, Rusty: A Dog's Tale, Owd Bob, Chestnut: Hero of Central Park, Hearty Paws, Cujo (lol), Life is Ruff, Vampire Dog...
I've seen
still others, but most were just decent at best. Soccer Dog, Hounded, Oh, Heavenly Dog, See Spot Run, The Gold Retrievers, Atomic Dog, Bailey's Billions, A Dog Named Christmas, Lenny the Wonder Dog, Man's Best Friend, K-9000, Cinnamon, Nikki, Wild Dog of the North, A Golden Christmas & its sequel, a bunch of other really, really B-movies on Netflix or TV or wherever...etc. Clearly I'm on a mission to see every dog flick ever made, lol.
Of course, I'm a connoisseur of animal movies in general...but, dogs seem to have by and large gotten the cream of the crop, I think.
Can't WAIT for the full-length Frankenweenie this Halloween!!! =O The short film has been a creepy favorite forever and ever.
Heck, I had serious fun with this!
