Nope, not much fun at all! Only time we ever looked forward to a bitch in heat was with Molly the Maltese, because it mysteriously made her kinder and more cooperative and pliable. XD
All of mine sometimes do the humpy thing, unfortunately, when they get excited--especially Rusty. You can walk in the door after a couple of minutes and he'll instantly grab you and explode into, "OMG I missed you so much and thought you were never coming back again and let me show you how much I love you!" They seem to think it's an ideal way of thanking me for serving food they particularly love, too. *__* Let's hope Bella doesn't form a habit of it. Not having another dog in the house to model might increase the odds in your favor.
Ahh, that's a good question. I've accumulated at least four or five good pairs of "hot pants," as I call them, because we do have a blend of carpeting and wood or linoleum flooring, and of course the plentiful carpets are harder to clean (although the dogs, especially the boys, prefer them for traction purposes, as they often have to sit up against someone or something just to keep from slipping and sliding around.) Fortunately these old woolen carpets are amazingly durable and have held up exceedingly well. Plus, Ullie's always all over the furniture. Gotta have at least two pairs, so that one can be worn while the other's washed! I had to replace her new pink bed with an older one for a while.
Thing is, we just got a dog door, so we're trying to leave the pants off as much as possible so she can continue to come and go as she pleases. I wish we could install mechanical arms around the door to grab her and slip the pants on and off as she goes. xD So I just keep wiping her tail off, trying to keep her only on certain beds or washable blanket-covered furniture cushions, and using the pants minimally this time.
Supposedly all you have to do to be eligible for Westminster is be a Champion. I was surprised when they told me that that was all that's required, and thus we'd be able to enter if we wanted. I honestly have not heard of any neuter shows here, but that's kind of a shame a it would be a nice idea, for the dogs who aren't going to bred anyhow. True, the purpose of showing is to evaluate the best breeding stock, but still, *every* good dog can't be bred. It still reflects well on the rest of their bloodline and family.
Best of luck, Bels--maybe someday you'll be an international Champ! ;D
Aaaand back onto the coats...hooray!! Go easy on the new PJs, Bella--you're quite lucky to be getting a homemade pair!
Miss Ullie's downstairs sleeping in the nude, no blankets or anything; it's HOT up here! XD
